In August 2025, Birding Indonesia was invited by Fauna & Flora International (FFI) to give a presentation about birdwatching to West Papua people in Rajaampat, Indonesia. Mehd Halaouate is the one who deliver the presentation. There were more than 25 people attended the class for 2 days indoor and 1 day outdoor.
There are several presentation topics delivered by some organizations. The participants were very enthusiast seeing photos, videos, and gesture presented by the presenters. They asked many questions and following the birdwatching session with good spirit.
Most of the participants are youngsters. It seems FFI wanted to prepare the next generation of bird guides in West Papua. So the papuan people will be the main player of the birding tourism industry in West Papua. Hopefully at the end, they will also become the frontier who conserve and protect their forest and birds within their areas.
