Black Winged Myna Survey in Bali

Since 2021 we helped and accompanied several organizations to do population survey for this endangered Black winged myna (Acridopteres melanopterus tertius) in Bali. This October 2024, the population on the southern part of Bali remains only 11 individuals. Where we did a 3 days survey (morning and afternoon time) on 4 different locations simultaneously. We believe, this population in the southern part of Bali, is the only remaining population which live at the outside of conservation area in Bali.

Some of the conservation actions which have been done are raising awareness of the local villagers, placed the hunting ban signs in several places within the habitat, placed some nest boxes, and monitored the population. There are still lots of homeworks for this species within that location and needs lots of commitment and involvement from the stakeholders.
